Dr. Otger CAMPAS

Dr. Campas is the Mellichamp Chair in Systems Biology and a professor of Mechanical Engineering at UCSB. His lab determines how force influences the movement, shape and development of living tissue. Dr. Campas has invented new methods of quantifying and manipulating the forces experienced by tissues by embedding engineered droplets. In this manner, it is possible to determine the biophysical properties of tissue in real time. Training & awards: Dr. Campas has degrees in Physics and Biophysics from the University of Barcelona and the Institut Curie. He trained at Harvard where he was an NIH SysCODE Interdisciplinary Research fellow.
