Dr. Manjunath is a professor with dual appointments in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science. He is the director of the Center for Bioimage Informatics at UCSB and the NSF-sponsored graduate training program in Interactive Digital Multimedia. His lab has pioneered the development of feature extraction with application to image registration, segmentation, steganography and information retrieval from large multimedia databases. Through the Bio-image Informatics project, he and his colleagues intend to develop, test and deploy a unique, fully operational distributed digital library of bio-molecular image data accessible to researchers around the world. Training & awards: Dr. Manjunath has degrees in electronics engineering and systems science. He received his PhD from USC. His work is supported by the NSF and the Office of Naval Research. Dr. Manjunath is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers.
